PETITION IN SUPPORT OF THE COMMUNITY WARDEN SCHEME IN CRUMLIN
Following several community meetings the residents of Crumlin, in conjunction with statutory agencies, sought to address anti-social behavior and crime within the town. Subsequently the installation of community wardens was arrived at and welcomed broadly. We acknowledge the sterling work that has been carried out by those wardens who have been working in the town over the past year. Through their presence and the building of relationships with local residents, young people and businesses community confidence has grown and anti-social behavior and crime within the town have been reduced significantly. We wish to state our opposition to the fact that there was no consultation with those who will be affected by any changes to the scheme – namely the people of Crumlin. We the undersigned express our strong concerns surrounding the tendering process for the community warden scheme for Crumlin town and are appealing that the decision currently reached by Antrim Borough Council be reviewed as a matter of urgency.
