I checked my phone and the notifications are just endless which is honestly wild because I really thought this would just be me shouting into a void in my kitchen. People are actually listening and seeing the value in what he brings to the choir room and honestly it makes me feel like crying but in a good way.

1. Mr. Petrozelli has been very supportive of my daughter, Sarah, during the three years he has been at NHS. 2. Mr. P. was instrumental in Sarah's admission into the Country, Regional, and State Choirs. 3. My understanding is that many teachers communicate with their students using modern methods, as it is the most effective. 5. One parent may have been unhappy with this, however many parents, students, and teachers will be unhappy if he is let go.
I can not believe that this is happening. a teacher that uses the tools to keep in touch with his students gets in trouble for it. Than that tool should be taken away from all teachers. If anything that was taking the wrong way, the school should be able to track it down. But they don't want to take the time to do it. I dont think that a person that loves his job should be let go.
Mr. P has spent countless unpaid hours directing Show Choir & All-States, and now the Board of Education wants to fire him for being a good teacher? THIS CANNOT BE ALLOWED!!!
Mr. P was the ONLY teacher to realize that I was feeling down when my grandparents passed away. He and I talked it it and I felt like someone finally understood me. I'm not even in chorus and I love Mr. P and all that he has done for the chorus and band alike. He has been so involved in the school, marching band, show choir, playing in the musical, doing chamber choir, staying long hours after school to help kids get into regional choir. He revived the chorus room. There used to be a feud between the band room and chorus room but now, I can say with 100% certainty, band kids feel safe and at home in the chorus room. He did not say anything inappropriate and it would be a shame for Newton High school to let go of a teacher that impactful on his students.
The week before Disney, I spoke with Mr. P about why he wanted to be a high school music teacher . He said he wanted the students at Newton to enjoy music and to have the best years of their life with their friends.
Mr.P doesn't deserve to be fired when he was just concerned about the students luggage
Mr. Petrozelli is an amazing teacher who spends COUNTLESS hours above & beyond the normal school day with his students doing: the Christmas Choir Concert, the Spring Choir Concert, County Choir, Regional Choir, All-State Choir, Honors Choir, Tour Choir, Show Choir, Broadway Night, Sussex County Teen Arts ~ as well as NJ Teen Arts, the Spring Musical, taking the Honors Choir to so many extra performances off premises like The Christmas Tree Lighting at the hospital, singing at Shop Rite before Christmas, Hershey Park, & performing on the radio (to name a few), as well as working with all of his students & helping them prepare for all of the above ~ as well as college auditions!!! This man puts in at least double the amount of hours compared to most teachers!!! As parents, we have put him in charge of our kids as they have traveled to Florida, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, and all over New Jersey!!! Being in this chaperone position ~ there is no way not to give the students his phone number! He is a wonderful teacher who is well respected by his students!!! What a huge mistake it would be to let him go!!! He came to Newton High School and immediately received so much slack from the seniors who were so upset that Mr. DiMinico was no longer there ~ but he persevered and did everything in his power to maintain the greatness that Newton High School choir has always been known for ~ and he succeeded!!! He made a huge difference in my daughter's Jr & Sr years @ NHS ~ and I'm looking forward to him teaching my son who will be at the high school in a few years!!! This Choir program has been through enough & we can't get rid of great teachers who truly care about their students!!! I ask that you please reconsider your decision & allow Mr. Petrozelli to keep his job!!!

My son will be a senior next year and my daughter a sophomore, they will be in womens choir and honors choir again next year. Mr. P. has been an incredible teacher and would be a huge loss to our school. I am always so impressed by the choir's performances and his care of the students. Listen to the school community on the students on this one and please, do the right thing.
