  • Car park charges are proposed all year round to Barry Island with parking free before 8am and reduced tariffs after 4pm.

On street parking is proposed for Barry Island all year round, 7 days a week. free for 1 hour, up to 2 hours £2, 3 hours £4, up to 4 hours £6, 5 hours £8, and all day £10.

This will put local businesses out of business, they will close. The winters will become harder and locals won't visit the Island as regular. Day trippers might only visit once per year and not several times and people will search for more free parking around the streets of Barry Island, stopping locals from parking near their house.

Community organisations and volunteers will also be hit, and may stop doing what they do as a result.

This is bad for everyone involved. There is a scrutiny meeting on April 4th and we need as much support as possible. Please sign this so we can take it to the meeting and show how many people oppose these charges.

At a minimum we are asking for 2 hours free on ‘on street parking’’, free parking on street during winter and reduced winter rates for the main car parks
