Petition against consideration to remove gate between Appomattox Dr. and 2475 Earl Rudder Freeway South
Petition background:
On September 27, 2001, a conditional use permit was issued to A&M Church of Christ for access to Raintree drive via Appomattox Drive. This permit was approved under the condition that “the Church would install a gate onto Appomattox Drive that would restrict access to and from the church property with the exception of 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. on Sunday and 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday”. On 11-30-15, applicant Elliot Head filed an application with the City of College Station to remove the gate required for the Church to have unfettered access to Appomattox Drive. A hearing on this request is scheduled before the City of College Station Planning and Zoning Commission at 6pm on January 21, 2015 at College Station City Hall.

We, the undersigned residents of Raintree, in College Station, Texas, request that you, the City of College Station, deny this request for removal of said required gate.

The City of College Station is still ignoring the safety concerns of everyone living on Appomattox Drive. Elliot Head thinks he can just bulldoze over our neighborhood rules and turn our quiet street into a shortcut for the church. We will not let them gamble with our peace and safety just to satisfy someone who refuses to follow the original agreement.

If they open that gate it will be non stop traffic day and night. Not fair to the people living here who bought homes specifically for this area.
Ridiculous idea. That gate has been there for years for a reason. Dont make our streets a shortcut for the freeway.
Leave it alone. Why change what isnt broken? Seriously just leave the gate.
We need that gate to stay closed! My kids play outside and I dont need cars flying down our street to avoid traffic on the highway.
The traffic in this neighborhood is already way too much. We bought our homes here because it was quiet. Keep the gate.
