We, the undersigned, support the proposal for the City of Philadelphia to acquire the 3 vacant lots; 4712, 4714, 4716 Wayne Ave as per the Philadelphia City Planning Commission (PCPC) Germantown-Nicetown Transit Oriented Plan 2005-08 for expansion of Happy Hollow.
The longtime vacant lots are adjacent to the historic Happy Hollow Playground/Recreation Center which opened April 29, 1911, the first in the City. They are along the Wayne Ave Business Corridor in Germantown, Phila., PA 19144 and will provide the space for expansion; construction of a LEED certified annex building to alleviate the present overcrowding, allow space for additional programming and services in order to serve a diverse, growing, evolving community while preserving history as well as a community landmark.

The momentum generated by this petition has prompted a formal request for a meeting with the office of Councilmember Cindy Bass. We are currently finalizing our presentation materials to detail the structural requirements for the proposed annex building.

This area’s youth desperately needs safe places to convene and learn and explore. The increased space can help alleviate the overcrowding, increase programming and more importantly decrease the blight in the area (which adds to the depression of its neighbors).
I work at Center in the Park located in Vernon Park. Two years ago I witnessed the extensive and I'm sure expensive renovation of the baseball Dimond. I have yet to see it used even with a pick up game. How much better if these funds had been directed to Happy Hollow.
I as a50 year resident of southwest Germantown agree that Happy Hollow needs this space. HAPPY Hollow has served the commumity for decades and continues to provide services.to our community and needs the space to better serve our community.
As the owner of the building directly across the street from this historic playground, I enthusiastically support the acquisition and expansion of this local resource.
I would like to see this happen so that my grandchild will have a clean safe playground to go to within walking distance in the neighborhood.
Kids need that space.

I grew up at Happy Hollow and ran track with Mallory. I would love to see the new plans take place.
