i've accidentally walked on that lane... it seemed a nightmare! google maps doesn't tell you there is no pedestrian pathway... and now I feel terribly sorry for that woman who died,probably getting there by mistake!!
It would be good if the pavement could continue all the way along this stretch of road. There are newer residental properties, so you would have thought that the residents require a safe way to leave their house without a car. Hopefully the road can be made safer so this doesn't happen again.
My thoughts are foremost with the family. I used to cycle down this road. I realised that it's simply way too dangerous and now avoid it. Many drivers lack the patience or judgement to overtake. I’m not usually someone that likes the thought of more speed bumps, but this road is exceptionally dangerous and some sort of road calming measures need to be enforced.
I am a member of the gym on this road but rarely go during winter as I wouldn't dare attempt to walk down there in the dark with no path for some sections! I am a non-driver.
I completely agree it's about time soemthjng is done. I wrote to the council several times as a child asking for pathways to be installed as there is so much overgrown wasted woodland that is never well maintained and as such could make way for a footpath. I never had a response from the council but it's about time they stood up and listened.
This is a really dangerous road for walkers and currently involves a long diversion

I live very close to the area of the accident and have been trying for years to the council to sort out the trees / lighting and road but to no avail. The county council and local council (Epsom and Ewell) prefer to blame each other rather than take any action. Lets hope something positive come out of this tragic event.
