Following road traffic accident involving myself at the top of Durkar Lane, a corner frequented my pedestrians and school children alike; I am starting a petition to the Highways agency to have safety bollards/railings installed to prevent this happening again.

I was extremely lucky to walk away with my life and am hoping to save someone else the emotional turmoil to themselves and the car driver or from a worst fate, please add your signature and let's make Durkar Lane a safer place for pedestrians and cars.

Updates

November 20, 2015

The Highways agency remains completely silent while the danger at Durkar Lane grows with every passing day. I am tired of waiting for their permission to keep our children safe so I am escalating my pressure on them this week.

November 20, 2015

The Highways Agency is ignoring a clear danger but this mounting pressure is making it impossible for them to look away. They think they can wait us out while our neighbors remain at risk on these streets. We are keeping this fire burning until they finally install the protection we demand.

It'd so dangerous on the bend it's unreal. I myself trying to get a pram up on ice and walk independently find it hard in bad weather. The cars slip and slide because it is not gritted correctly. Railing would be an amazing idea and very practical

I am all for this. It is so dangerous at most schools but the way the parking is something needs to be done and it is a dangerous corner especially if not gritted in icy conditions. Children need to be as safe as possible when walking to school.

My children were minutes away from being hit there when the accident happened. Fortunately my mum was running late to collect my son from school. I often see idiots taking this corner too fast and the back end coming out. This is a terrible corner for when it is icy too. I have known this road close wjen the ice and snow is making the road too dangerous to drive down. Let's not forget this area of road is so close to st James school. What will it take before something on this area of road changes?

The bend by Durkar house where the wall is built where the pavement should be is now a life safety risk especially with the 1000% increase in traffic. It is only a matter of time before someone is killed due to this and the constant speeding especially from contractors

There is a barrier further down with a less severe bend. It makes sense to have one at the top of durker lane too

A car lost control (speed) span out of control and mounted the pavement and hit my wife and the both came to rest in a garden if it had been 20 mins later it would have been 20 plus kids under a car going home from school This is not on and we need a safe walk way to and from a school Thank you
