Ever since long line of parking along Old Orchard Rd in Skokie has been eliminated due to bike lane construction, it has been a real struggle for a lot of families that depended on those parking spaces. There are several apartment and condominium communities right across the street, who used those parking spaces every day and now you can see people sitting for an hour with flashing lights on just waiting for someone to leave, so they can get a parking space. It makes it very difficult for any family to live here unless you have one car, which is rare.

On top of that two small streets Harvest lane and Beverly drive have parking on both sides of the street now, which makes it very narrow for two cars to pass each other. It will be even more challenging once the snow is on the ground and it's slippery.

The purpose of this petition is to have Village of Skokie Community Development department to evaluate the situation with parking and take into consideration the needs of Skokie residents that live in that immediate area and desperately need the parking spaces on Old Orchard Rd.

The traffic congestion on Harvest and Beverly is getting worse every single day. I am documenting these safety hazards for our upcoming meeting with the village.

Our friends and relatives stopped coming over to our apartment due to parking problem. I have to pay additional $50 per month for additional parking.

Why we have been treated like a step child, Why village decided to have parking for Alden Nursing home and why they do not consider over 500 families to have parking. This is plan and simple politics and who you know than what need to be done. Since Skokie does not have alderman therefore no one is willing to listen to our problems

Being a resident of Old Orchard Ct for more than 7 years it was never more difficult to get to my parking space. The risk to have accident because of cars parked on both sides of small and narrow street leading to the parking is very high. The risk will be much higher at winter time which is around the corner.

With all the difficulties for Old Orchard Ct residents it became almost impossible to park the car for visitors. In my case when I come to visit my Mom (87 years old). to help her with groceries or to bring her some medications I have no place to leave my car without a risk to block a driveway or being towed.

I never saw walkers or bicyclists in groups or everyday using Old Orchard Road. Why, all of a sudden, was it so important to take away functional space that negatively impacted so many people. Why were we not consulted on the ramifications of this construction project? We need our parking back.

Skokie does not appreciate it's common people. I'm 81 yrs old and I have to pay full boat for my sticker. Waukegan charges $10.00

Please add additional parking! People park on the side by cimitary where is not aloud, I guess, and they get tickets. And one day I saw a black teenager was skateboarding on the trail and took these tickets from three cars and put them in his back pack. Poor these people that don't know about their tickets. I called Skokie policy department and I let them know about that guy and what he did. I hope they saw him in the around cameras!
