We, the undersigned residents of the Mayfair community, are calling upon CPS and the 39th ward alderman to re-develop the Palmer Elementary Greenspace at the NE corner of Kenneth and Argyle, into a multi-use community Greenspace serving 800+ Palmer K-8 students and 10,000 Mayfair residents.

Palmer Elementary's current playlot at the NE corner of Kenneth and Argyle is unsafe, gravel filled and floods when it rains. The school recently achieved a 1+ CPS rating and the parents and residents want the dilapidated school grounds to reflect the good works happening inside the building.

Updates

February 10, 2017

I have been meeting with school staff to discuss the drainage issues and the urgent need for a safe play area at the Kenneth and Argyle site. Email the 39th Ward office today and demand they prioritize funding for this project in the next budget cycle. Post the petition link to your Facebook page so our neighbors understand exactly why these grounds must be replaced.

The momentum behind this greenspace project is growing and the message to the alderman is finally becoming impossible to ignore. Take a moment to text this link to three neighbors who live in the 39th Ward.

I live at 5110 N. Kildare 60630 and this is plea to rectify the sad state of affairs in the Palmer elementary school grounds. I request immediate action. Money has gone to schools that are now closed. IT IS IMPERATIVE to this community that we not only improve the look of the lot, but honor the children by showing them we care.

So proud of our neighborhood school, teachers, principal and students. I do not have children but would be happy to have aldermanic menu money spent to fix sidewalks the kids use as a track. We need a strong advocate in the 39th ward alderman's office to help get LONG needed roof repairs and green space improvements. Palmer is a community anchor that deserves the support of all of us in North Mayfair.

60630, This greenspace would mean so much to the school and the neighborhood. The outside of the school needs to reflect all of the great things that are going on inside the school building!

My kids play here often as it is only a couple of blocks away. It would be wonderful to see some cleanup and updates done. 60630

As principal of Palmer, I whole heartedly support this initiative! It would mean the world not only to Palmer students, but to the community at large. This would be an AMAZING space to promote community and physical fitness and would be used not only by Palmer students, but by everyone in the surrounding neighborhood.
