This is Paco.  This photo was taken in September 2010.  Paco lives in the Central Valley of Costa Rica. After living on the streets for months, a little girl took him in.  The little girl's mother was not pleased and when her daughter when back to school, she told her handyman to kill him.  You can read all the details of Paco's story HERE. 

The Atenas Rescate Animal turned to the Lighthouse Animal Shelter for help.  Frances, aka Kitten, has a facility where she lovingly fosters several dogs and cats until they find their forever homes.  Kitten documented Paco's progress, which included a lot of medical setbacks on her blog and on Facebook, where many of us came to to love this little guy.

Paco has fought so hard and has survived and flourished thanks to Kitten, her family, her vet Sharon and volunteers at the Shelter.  Just look at Paco now!



Kitten informed all of us on Facebook that Paco is going to have his day in court on March 22, 2011.  Rescate Animal has sued the woman that tried to have Paco killed and is seeking restitution for the medical bills that were incurred by Kitten.  On Kitten's most recent update on the case, she made a comment that the possibility exists that Paco's abuser could be given custody of him again! 

And thus the reason for this petition.  We can NOT let Paco go back into the hands of his murderers.  Kitten will be going to court with Paco on the 22nd. 

Please sign this petition to defend Paco's safety and demand he remain in Kitten's custody until a permanent and loving home can be arranged.  Kitten will bring this petition and present it to the court.  We need to hold animal abusers accountable, no matter where they live!
