Help bring the college to town. The Dunfermline Press is at the heart of the community and we want Fife College to be in the heart of Dunfermline town centre. Don't let this be the latest vital facility taken out of our community and centralised in other parts of Fife. Placing the college in the town centre could bring huge social and economic benefits to the people of Dunfermline and West Fife. The college has to move to new premises. Why can't it be on OUR doorstep? Sign our petition and deliver the clearest possible message to the chairman and board of Fife College that this is OUR college and it should be in OUR town.

I have been hearing stories from local business owners who are worried about what losing this hub will do to our streets. Your signatures gave me the leverage to request a formal meeting with the board members who are currently deciding our future.

Seeing the momentum grow for this move reminds me of how much we all value the future of our town center. This energy confirms that I am not the only one who refuses to watch our community lose another vital piece of its identity.

It makes sense for the new college to be in Dunfermline town centre, or as close to it as possible. The proximity to the bus and train station would mean that those who don't have a car can attend college. Dunfermline already has a great bus service. Not to mention the positive impact it would have on local businesses.

I was in the first intake to the former Lauder Technical College 45 years ago and this college needs to be kept in Dunfermline, everything seems to end up in Kirkaldy.

The start of Dunfermlines demise can be directly linked back to the college being moved out of the town centre when out of town developments were the rage. There's room for out of town developments but a major seat of learning must be located in a central town centre location and Dunfermline certainly has the derelict land to accommodate such a development.

Makes complete sense to move the campus to town if possible. An out of town location may offer short term gains (cheaper and quicker build) but it won't fit the needs of students. Universities and Colleges are learning from the mistakes of the past and seeking to move back into towns. Fife College needs to do the same.

I am a union shop steward for support staff at Fife College. I work (mostly) at the Halbeath Campus and I fully support this initiative. Good for students, good for the college and good for Dunfermline.

Having a college in the centre of town would be great. 1. For the town retailers 2. For the students to have access to Dunfermline during term time for lunch, snacks beverages etc, entertainment, culture and history.

Ask any student whether they prefer an out of town or town centre location for their college or uni and the vast majority would go for town centre. It's a no brainer. I presume the council are doing everything they can in the way of incentives to make this happen?

Having been a student at Fife College at the Halbeath Campus for the last 3 years, and also a resident in Dunfermline for the last 4 years, I welcome the change of location of the campus to Dunfermline Town Centre. I believe the change of location will not only be of benefit to the students attending the college, but will also boost the local economy and help the businesses in the town centre. The town centre is in bad need of more footfall, better shops and retailers. The college relocation will help to change the town centre for the better.
