For generations, our community centre was a place where people could come together, meet neighbours, make friends, support one another and take part in activities and events.
We believe it is time to bring that sense of community back — but make it bigger, better and more inclusive than ever before.
We want to see the building returned to the community and developed into a welcoming, affordable and accessible community hub for everyone — from birth to later life.
A place where there could be something for everyone, including:

- 🧒 Children's activities and holiday clubs
- 👨👩👧 Family fun days and family nights
- 🎉 Discos and social evenings
- 💃 Dance, fitness and exercise classes
- 🎱 Bingo and traditional community nights
- 🎄 Christmas and seasonal events
- 🍽️ Community meals and food events
- 🥫 A food bank and support for families who are struggling
- ☕ Coffee mornings and social groups
- 👵 Activities and companionship for older residents
- 🤝 Support groups and advice services
- 🎨 Arts, crafts and educational activities
- 🎤 Live entertainment and local talent nights
- ❤️ Community celebrations, fundraising events and remembrance events
Most importantly, we want it to be a place where nobody feels left out.
A place where children can make friends, parents can meet other families, young people have somewhere positive to go, older residents can socialise, and people who may be lonely or struggling can find friendship, support and a sense of belonging.
From a baby's first community group to activities for our older generation — a true community centre from birth to later life.
This isn't simply about a building. It's about bringing people together and giving our community a place that belongs to the community.

Very important for the local community, it would be great for the village to have somewhere to organise events, youth clubs etc.
Penrhiwfer is desperate for a hub that the community can come together in.. it’s a very close nit community who come together in any time of need. I think it would be amazing to restore a building that was a very important to the area. People of penrhiwfer still talk about the old community centre to this day, so this would be great for the younger generation to make their own memories and the older resident to make new ones
Because I’m from the area and remember it as a gym bingo hall disco hall cinemas youth club an would love to see it become what it once was
I grew up with this community centre as our safe hub. It gave us somewhere to spend our time where we felt safe, secure and looked after. It stopped us roaming the streets and brought us together as a community. From play schemes and fitness classes to bingo and parties, there was always something happening. I’d love to see it brought back to life so future generations can have the same safe community space we grew up with.
We don’t have a lot in Penrhwfier for the kids this staying as a community centre is a must! Jeri’s our children safe and out of trouble
Spent my childhood in there either upstairs in youthclub or in the hall playing bingo or in the disco...get it back for the kids of penrhiwfer
The loss of the community centre has left a hole in Penrhiwfer, it's benefits go far beyond a building, it's about community pride, cohesion and supporting each other, let's act now for future generations

I spent a lot of years growing up in penrhiwfer and to see this thriving for their community again would be amazing as there is a lot of varied ages who would definitely benefit from it and I’m sure the community will get behind this
