We are currently facing a crisis in our community that if unattended will have huge economic and personal effects on our homes and families. We are very distressed by location of the proposed Chapman Wind Farm and beyond. This Wind Farms is scheduled to start building within 6 to 8 months and will involve 600 to 800 giant wind turbines (500’ high). Here are the problems as we see it:

1. The location of wind towers includes a large area of the City of Corpus Christi’s ETJ (5 mile from city limit)and are adjacent to the city limits off of Staples, thus eliminating any future growth on the Southside of Corpus Christi. It will extend all the way out to beyond the Corpus Christi land fill pass Petronila close to Bishop

2. All homes within 1.8 or less of a wind turbine will depreciate in value from 25 % to 40%. The closer to the wind turbines the bigger the lost. As you know nobody wants to live close to a lot of wind turbines.

3. We believed the London School and Bishop School will lose millions in lost tax revenues due to decrease in property values and will lose student population due to families abandoning the area and no future growth in Nueces County.

4. The corrosive nature of our location will quickly deteriorate the wind generators making them more uneconomical than normal and more subject to abandonment. We have been told that the cost to remove one is over 100,000 dollar.

5. The wind turbines interferes with the radar of all 3, International Airport and the Naval Air Station in both cities, their safety and the future in Corpus Christi of the Naval Air Operations.

6. They are a proven danger to migratory fowl and its location is in the annual flight path of birds.

7. Additionally, we object to subsidizing, with our tax payer dollar, industry that cannot within the foreseeable future, if ever, be economically feasible (make profit or stand up during a 70 mph winds or greater).

Now is the time to make our concerns heard. We must come together to fight this project. If we are to stop it we need everyone in the neighborhood, county and city to get involved. We are having regular meetings in various area in differ homes and we urge you to attend. We cannot let Wells Fargo Bank Trust Department and Luby Family, Chapman Ranch Trust(families) and an outside Wind Farm Company decide our future in Nueces county, lost property values, destroy our school, desecrate the environment and landscape, and destroy the peace and harmony of our area.

Get involved now. Contact us now! We can only win if we unite and make our voice heard. Go to meetings, Please sign your name to Opposition Wind Farms in Nueces County

Thank you

The level of traction this initiative has gained verifies that many residents share our deep concerns regarding the proposed wind farm placement. This momentum proves that our community values the long-term stability of our local landscape and economy. We will proceed to use this collective mandate to engage the appropriate decision makers.

I am completely opposed to this - look what happened to Portland and Sinton - they are gaining nothing from the windfarm in their area and loosing a lot. I live near Chapman Ranch and do not want to live across from a WindFarm - my property value would decrease substantially. How is the city planning on compromising land owners for this?

Keep these eyesores out of our backyards. We moved to the country for the view not to watch giant blinking lights all night long.
