If you agree that route 15 in Loudoun County, north of Montressor Rd, should remain 2 lanes, please sign this petition. As a Lucketts resident, I live here for the landscape and the amazing community. That will certainly change as 4 lanes will bring development which will lead to not only changing Lucketts landscape, but added cars on the road, then we are back to square 1

Updates

December 9, 2021

I have been reading through the stories you all are leaving in the comments and the shared love for this area is truly moving. It is clear that I am not the only one worried about losing what makes our community special because of these road plans. Your words continue to be the real reason this is gaining momentum despite my modest expectations.

Additional lanes will do nothing to alleviate the number of cars, if anything, it will cause more. Traffic backups will just get pushed to the north! Roundabouts have proven to have worked successfully and should be considered on Rt 15, north of Leesburg.

I am a property owner in Lucketts, directly on Rt 15. Should you make four lanes I will no longer be able to make a left out of my property. I am not against improvements, I am against four lanes

As someone who lived in Lakeridge, VA, I can tell you from lived experience that widening the roads not only increased the amount of traffic and congestion we experienced, but it also caused an enormous amount of spillover traffic into quiet neighborhoods and historic Occoquan. Please implement traffic slowing measures such as roundabouts instead. Thank you.

It’s astounding to me that Loudoun continues to pursue “widening” as the answer to traffic, congestion, and safety issues with respect to 15N. Across the WORLD studies have shown that widening roads in rural and agricultural areas on the outskirts of cities does nothing but increase development of all types - houses/businesses/retail - that means within a short time the traffic/congestion/and safety issues have come right around again. NO to widening Rt.15N. Wider single lanes, traversable shoulders the length of the corridor, and roundabouts will manage congestion, access, and safety concerns without attracting further development.

I believe 4 lanes will quickly fill with traffic and will spur lots of development- it already has. I believe the rural nature of our area deserves to be preserved- for our environment, the residents of Lucketts, and visitors I do support safety improvements, especially traffic calming measures.

Four lanes will improve nothing until Point-of-Rocks bridge expansion is constructed first( or constructed concurrently). Enlarging Route 15 will benefit out-of-state commuters more than residents at a huge cost to the taxpayers and the landscape.

We need a better solution to the traffic problems and dangerous driving on Rte 15. I support traffic calming measures. The POR bridge is not getting any wider; 4 laning is a patch job that will cause more traffic and just move the chokepoint a little further down the road. We need a bypass someplace else or another bridge to MD. We need shoulders on Rte 15 for emergency vehicles, medians to prevent passing over the double yellow line, and more law enforcement.
