The school gates are finally opening and classes will resume this week. Your support allowed us to advocate for our own futures during a very difficult period. I encourage everyone to return to their studies with focus while we keep a watchful eye on our academic progress.

Final supporters
The closure of the Northern Area schools, in Port Elizabeth, as a form of protest is for a good cause as learners will benefit from it in the long run. However, this has been going on for too long, and will proceed longer, indefinitely. We as learners feel that it is not fair of parents to make decisions which will not influence their academics and whether they pass or fail. Some schools in the Northern Area are continuing with the syllabus, despite the ongoing protest, so why can't our schools do the same?
This has become extremely stressful for us learners as we are now already at a disadvantage.
This petition is aimed to urge the School Governing Body of our schools to please resume school as matter of urgency, as we [learners] are desperate for an education. We feel as though we are being punished for what is not our fault. We as learners should take action for what impacts is. As heard on the news, the Department of Education has already accepted the parents' request for more teachers, they need to understand that it is not a change that can be made overnight.

I'm sick and tired laying around at home.I just wish the school would open,we need these teachers that the goverment doesn't feel the need to pay.Some of us has started a strong relationship with these teachers and losing them would be a terrible lost to all schools and learners. Nelson Mandela suffered 27 years for us all to have freedom and rights.We have the to education and stop stealing ours from us all
Please open school for the sake of our kids education, they are loosing out & exams starting this month.
I am sending my son to school on monday. This is why our children end up on street corners. With a gun in one hand and a packet of tik in the other. Government doesn't think anything of our children so let's show them we can do it without their help. Send ur children back to school!
Our kids are suffering!!! And how are they going to cope with all the amount of work that needs to be done? I see alot of failure in the future if this persists.
We are well aware that the schools need teachers, but i dont think its fair towards the kids who wants to go to school. The kids are really falling behind, and parents shouldnt be standing in the way of letting the kids go to school. And im not saying they should stop what they doing, but let the kids go to school. After all thats what we fighting for. An education for our kids!!!
Schools need to open, matrics need to be educated. The rest of their lives depend on it!

I think its very selfish of sgb 2decide on behalf of parents 2keep schools closed these children are our future so y keep education 4rm them.
