The news is official and pharmacy ownership will indeed return to the hands of pharmacists. I am honestly stunned we reached this point as this outcome belongs entirely to the people who believed in this cause from the start. Please keep a watchful eye on the implementation process while we …
The Pharmaceutical industry is being devalued by big corporates, we've had enough. Its time for pharmacy ownership to be back where it belongs WITH PHARMACISTS. LETS PUT BACK THE HONOUR AND DIGNITY INTO OUR PROFESSION.
I started this because I felt alone in my frustration but reading your personal stories about the state of our industry has been eye-opening. This momentum belongs entirely to the pharmacists who choose to speak up every single day. I am currently working on a plan to formalize our requests and will let you know as soon as there is something concrete to report.

Too many big shops just want to push sales instead of focusing on actual patient care. This needs to change right now.

Pharmacies should be about health not just profit margins. Stop letting big business run everything into the ground.

Fix this. Pharmacists studied for years just to be treated like workers for some office guy.

Pharmacy belongs to pharmacist. The big retailers are not only destroying the dignity of the profession by opening pharmacies in supermarkets where you buy your meat, your lotto tickets, cigarettes and stuff, but also deny young South Africans decent career opportunities. They have destroyed the confidence that the society had on pharmacists, thus compromising the effectiveness of our health system. Pharmacists are very important and they need to get the recognition and respect they deserve in order for them to deliver pharmaceutical services that the South African community deserves. I have worked for different companies in the private sector and encountered different kinds of patients but ill tell you what, the attitude of the same patient you helped at the pharmacy in a super market is different from when you assist the same patient in a private hospital pharmacy and that should say a lot.
