LOW INCOME APARTMENTS( OFF JONES ROAD AND STEEPLEWAY)
A MEETING WAS HELD WITH THE DEVLOPERS OF THIS PROJECT, HOSTED BY THE STEEPLECHASE HOA. RESIDENTS WERE VERY VOCAL AND IN STEP WITH THEIR OBJECTIONS TO THE PROPOSED LOW INCOME APARTMENTS. HOWEVER, AFTER HEARING HOME OWNERS OBJECTIONS, THE DEVELOPERS ARE STILL CONTINUING WITH THEIR PLANS TO HAVE THIS PROJECT BUILT.
THE STEEPLECHASE HOA HAS FORMED A STEERING COMMITTEE TO FORMULATE A PLAN TO FIGHT THIS PROJECT.
IS TO SIGN THE ATTACHED PETITION, WHICH WILL BE SENT TO ELECTED OFFICIALS.
Our community is located in an unincorporated area of Harris County with no municipal police, fire or public transportation. Since the construction of other tax credit low- income apartments nearby, our community has experienced increased crime and vandalism. We strongly oppose construction of more rent controlled housing that will adversely affect neighborhood security, lower our property values and add to the overcrowding of our schools.
The steering committee is looking at ways to handle the developers who are still pushing forward despite how many of us showed up to that meeting. It feels like they are ignoring everything we pointed out about the schools and the crime rates but honestly I am not surprised even though it is incredibly frustrating.

I really never imagined this much energy behind us when I started typing this out in my kitchen and now it feels like people are actually waking up to the reality of what these developers are planning for Meadowlands. It is just spinning and spinning in my head how many neighbors feel exactly the same way about the crime and the schools but now we actually have something official to show them so they have to listen.

Due to these kind of apartments our schools have gone done. The Meadowlands have a lot of not so good people bring drugs into our area that used to be nice. We are looking out of Cypress to find a new house

Just look at the crime reports near the other low income spots. It is a disaster for us and the kids.

The county needs to listen to us for once. We cant keep taking on more of these projects when we dont even have the police force to cover the area.

Too much traffic on Jones already. These guys dont care about the people who actually pay taxes in this neighborhood.

We bought our house here for the schools and safety. If this goes in we are moving out. Property values are already dipping thanks to the other complex.
