Please support us in addressing the safety concerns in the areas on Heritage Drive at the Callen Drive and Blackburn Drive intersections and also the trail behind Elsie Yanik and Dave McNeilly Schools.
I have been hearing from more families this week who are nervous about the traffic flow near the schools and the lack of visibility on the trails. Send a quick email to your municipal representative today to demand a formal traffic study for these intersections. We are currently drafting a letter to the city council that details these specific safety hazards.

I cross blackburn every day after work. I joke with my coworkers that it's so dangerous we can only hope to get hit by a company truck for a better payout. It's unreal the speed people tear through that intersection at.

We need speed bumps at the end of the 500 block on heritage people drive too fast. And something has to be done about the cars doing burnouts right near where the walking trail is coming. My kids walk there and it's not safe

The intersection of callen and heritage is especially dangerous due to the amount of trafffic and design of the road, with the crown in the road and parking on heritage it makes it very difficult to see, many kids use this intersection walking to and from school

Please do something about the speed of drivers in Parsons North and reduce the amount of onstreet parking allowed - it seriously limits visibility for pedestrians and drivers.

With two elementary schools side by side and a great deal of foot traffic in the area- this lighted pedestrian crosswalk needs to become a priority for our Community. Installing a crosswalk at a neighbourhood park on Heritage Drive that is still not fully operational should have been secondary.

These intersections are extremely dangerous. While waiting for the bus I consistently watch people almost get hit trying to cross the street at Blackburn - which is clear as to why. There are no indicators for people crossing the road they can push to signal to traffic.
As a driver, there is a lot going on at this intersection. 4 lane traffic reduces down to 2 lanes, with traffic joining on both sides who have poor traffic visability of oncoming traffic, pedestrians and constantly flashing crosswalk signs (not helpful).
Everyone is calling for traffic lights, while that would be great, I recognize that is both expensive and will take time to be approved and installed. Something needs to be done sooner than that:
Simply create a 4 way stop. Stop signs can’t be hard to install.

Trying to get out onto Heritage Dr. Is simply dangerous. Can’t see cars coming and usually they’re driving much more than the speed limit.
