We are concerned about the safety of Lancelin drive with possibility of reopening the thoroughfare between houses 5/3 in our street and the possibility of link bridges over to Pizzey Park complex from existing thoroughfares. We have had numerous accounts in which thieves have used the existing walkways to gain access and also take stolen goods through. The houses surrounding current open walkways have installed security cameras due to increasing incidents and safety concerns. We are planning to take this petition to our local member Pauline Young and have her help us get through the right channels of the GCCC.

I live beside one of the proposed walkways and have twice in the past week caught people lurking down at the canal, looking over my fence into my property. Luckily on both occasions my dogs deterred these individuals, but it is only a matter of time until we are robbed if we can’t find a way to block off direct access onto main roads. Please consider how you would feel if this was your home.
There is no valid reason to have a foot bridge into a neighbourhood street that has only one access road in/out. It serves as no purpose & an absolute waste of money.
We do not approve as it will increase risk of crime and traffic to an unbelievable family friendly location..
I agree that with the current media attention to increasing crime throughout Mermaid Waters it would benefit our safety if this was to be closed off.

We object to the proposed foot bridges as we believe it will detract from the otherwise quiet and safe street that is currently a haven for safe kids play without the threat of passers by.
