The council finally agreed to halt the early morning construction work until after our exams are finished. I am incredibly relieved that we can finally get some sleep while we study. Thank you for helping me hold them accountable for this disruption.

Final supporters
As many of you are probably aware by now, Leeds city council have decided to start work on the old car park outside The Tannery/ Sentinel Towers. Its pretty ridiculous that this has been allowed so close to exams, why not in the summer when we have all left? Starting loud work at 7am is horrendous and wakes up the whole block that faces the site. Many have emailed to complain and it seems that the complaint won't be taken any further without multiple people agreeing that its wrong. Central village managed to get compensation due to building work disrupting them, and we think its only fair that we get the same. Please sign this petition, won't take long and hopefully will be worth it.

I have spent my mornings recording the decibel levels from my bedroom because the noise is truly impossible to sleep through. I am currently compiling these logs and your comments to present to the council so they understand exactly how this is affecting our revision time.

Seeing the momentum build so quickly proves how exhausted we all are by these early morning construction starts. It feels incredibly validating to know I am not the only one struggling to study through the grinding noise outside our windows.

It's ridiculous that my daughter and her flat mates are being disturbed by these builders so close to their exams, work should be suspended until after all exams have finished.
Uncalled for noise during placement and exam times as student nurses and midwifed are in night /early and late shifts all week.
hope the council wants to pay another £9k for each person who doesn't pass their degree this year.
How can I do work/revise with this level of noise? We felt the floor physically shaking.
I am on the other side of the building and I am still woken up when it starts in the morning, our chairs also vibrate when work is happening and it is so disruptive to us, I cant imagine what it must be like if you are facing it!
The noise is getting louder day by day. The jackhammer is so loud it may as well be in my room. The worst possible time for this to happen.
I really don't appreciate my desk vibrating when i'm trying to work

This work is being carried out at the worst possible time of year when students are studying hard for end of year exams/assessments. It should be delayed until the long summer vacation when the residences are mostly empty & unaffected by noise nuisance
