The university reversed the decision and the shelter is staying open. I am exhausted but incredibly relieved that the animals have a place to go. We will stay alert to ensure they keep their word.

ΛΕΜΕ ΟΧΙ ΣΤΟ ΚΛΕΙΣΙΜΟ ΤΟΥ ΜΟΝΑΔΙΚΟΥ ΚΑΤΑΦΥΓΙΟΥ ΓΙΑ ΤΑ ΑΔΕΣΠΟΤΑ ΣΤΗΝ ΤΡΙΤΗ ΠΟΛΗ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΑΣ. Θεωρούμε ότι είναι ένδειξη πολιτισμού η ύπαρξη και διατήρηση Φιλοζωικού Συλλόγου με υποδομές φιλοξενίας για ζώα που βρίσκονται σε ανάγκη, ιδιαίτερα σε ένα χώρο που συνδέεται με την Παιδεία και την Εκπαίδευση όπως το Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών. Λέμε ΟΧΙ στην παύση της ΜΕΡΙΜΝΑΣ ΖΩΩΝ ΠΑΝΕΠΙΣΤΗΜΙΟΥ ΠΑΤΡΩΝ!!! Θεωρούμε απαράδεκτο και ντροπιαστικό την κατάργηση υπαρχόντων δομών που προσφέρουν κοινωνικό έργο, όταν μάλιστα δεν υπάρχει απολύτως τίποτα άλλο προς αντικατάσταση. Λέμε ΝΑΙ στην συνέχιση λειτουργίας της ΜΕΡΙΜΝΑΣ ΖΩΩΝ ΠΑΝΕΠΙΣΤΗΜΙΟΥ ΠΑΤΡΩΝ σε ακόμα καλύτερα πλαίσια. Ψηφίζουμε ολοι , μας αφορά όλους !
We say no the closure of the only shelter for stray dogs in the third largest city in Greece. We believe that the existence and maintenance of an animal welfare association which offers reception and hospitality facilities for animals in need, especially on the grounds of an educational institution, namely the niversity of patras, clearly signifies a sign of a civilised society. Shutting down any existing facilities that perform important tasks in society, and at the same time there are no plans to provide any kind of replacement whatsoever is totally unacceptable and disgraceful. We say yes to keeping in operation and further improving the animal welfare shelter of patras university in operation . We must all vote, this matter touches all of us.

The emails I send to the administration are met with total silence and it is exhausting to keep pushing against a wall. I am not stopping this fight because the animals have no one else to protect them.

Ντροπή.Δεν έχω λόγια.Αυτή η χώρα πραγματικά είναι τριτοκοσμική.Ανέκαθεν δεν υπήρχε ( και προ κρίσης ) σεβασμός και υποδομές για τα αδέσποτα ζώα αλλά αυτό που συμβαίνει τα τελευταία χρόνια έχει ξεπεράσει κάθε όριο.Το έργο που επιτελείται στη Μέριμνα κάτω από πολύ δύσκολες συνθήκες είναι πραγματικά ανεκτίμητο και οι άνθρωποι της ήρωες.
ειναι κατι παρα πολυ αρνητικο το κλεισιμο της μεριμνας.εγω πηρα το σκυλι μου απο εσας.πολλοι ανθρωποι ακομα μπορουν να κανουν μια τετοια πραξη που βοηθαει σημαντικα φιοτι τα αδεσποτα σκυλια ολο και αυξανονται.
Greece needs more shelters, not less! And more education on pets. I'd say: the university is a perfect place to start teaching!

Please don't close the animal welfare centre at Patras University. There are no plans to build a new animal welfare place and this is not good enough. This shelter provides vital help for strays and is a sign that not all Greeks are uncivilised in their attitude to animals.
