NO to massive mega hotels proposal that will eliminate density limits! Siesta Key has thousands of rooms for rent. Condos, apartments, boutique hotels - all offer nightly rentals. We like the low key (no pun intended) environment of our barrier islands especially within our Village. But four proposed changes to our local comprehensive growth plan will hurt Siesta Key's charm, increase traffic and create massive buildings on Siesta.

Developers are proposing allowing mega hotels on small lots in areas including Siesta Key Village, South Siesta Key and at the former Wells Fargo bank site. These hotels will be massive since the proposal is to allow hotels to be built without limitations to density and size.

We don't mind hotels being built as currently allowed by code but say NO to any exemptions to our current density and intensity limits for hotels.

We urge Sarasota County to stop the nonsense. Don't turn us into Miami or Ft. Lauderdale!

Keep our current regulations intact!

NO to massive mega hotels on Siesta Key.

Thank you for signing this petition

I started this because I was worried about our island but I never imagined so many of you felt the same way. Reading your stories about what this community means to you has been overwhelming in the best way possible. Please know that I am still sending your concerns to the county commissioners whenever I get the chance.

The proposed hotel in Siesta Key village will end my best friends T-shirt store that has been there for many many years. This would be sad to see small businesses ending due to new hotels in the heart of the village.

During season traffic is backed up to my complex a mile south of the bridge I am a Doctor Who is required to go to the emergency room for patient care it would be unsafe for me to try to use the Oncoming lane in an emergency

It is time to put the permanent residents first. Many years ago they commissioners adopted density and height rules for a reason. It’s just not a matter of destroying the ambience. It’s a matter of overcrowding, infrastructure, and quality of life.

This will not increase tax revenue, it will cost tax revenue in the long run. Residential airbnb will drop causing sales, an over saturated commercialized island will drop property value, crime and traffic accidents will increase causing need for more police

I've been spending summers on Siesta Key since I was 10 years old. That's 40 years. While they key has definitely changed over the years, it has managed to maintain its charm - primarily because no large commercial hotels have been allowed!! PLEASE don't let this happen.

hotels can exist, and be profitable, without height - one could easily make the case that more profit could come from less height - quaint, less noisy, peaceful, luxury - has greater value than disney, hyatt, hilton!

As a resident, this decision will destroy the key. It is very disheartening that the commissioners are not listening to the residents. We should have the strongest voice as we know the day to day activities.
