Morris Homes finally backed down and pulled their greedy development plans for Herons Wharf. Wigan Council has officially rejected the application because we refused to let them destroy our green space with their lies. Keep your eyes open though because we will be ready if these developers try to crawl …

We the undersigned call on Morris Homes to withdraw plans for their proposed residential development at Herons Wharf, Appley Bridge and for Wigan Council to reject the planning application A/13/77898.

The proposed developmentis unnecessary and unwanted by the local community, who have numerous concerns includingthe levels of contamination at the identified land, access to and from the site and future traffic issues on Mill Lane when the development is completed. There is no assurance current utilities and infrastructure can withstand the development and that it will simply destroy a pleasant green space currently utilised by members of local and neighbouring communities.

The consultation process was not adequate and delivering the information during the week before Christmas caused unnecessary stress to local residents.

We call on you to withdraw/reject the proposal and to honour the verbal assurances given by yourselvesto residents who bought properties in the good faith that the land identified for development would not be built on in the future.

Morris Homes thinks they can steamroll our neighborhood with this toxic project while Wigan Council ignores the blatant lack of infrastructure. I have been relentless in demanding answers regarding the contamination risks and the disaster this will cause on Mill Lane. Do not let these greedy developers think we are going to look the other way while they destroy our green space.

The massive surge in support proves that Morris Homes cannot just bulldoze over our neighborhood to pad their pockets. Wigan Council is watching this momentum grow and they finally have to acknowledge that we are not going to let them destroy our green space.

Stop destroying our green spaces. We need nature more than we need more houses no one asked for.

The consultation timing was a joke. Trying to sneak this through over Christmas so nobody would notice. We see you.

Appley Bridge has enough traffic without another massive housing estate. Absolutely not.

DONT BUILD HERE. The ground is contaminated and the roads arent safe for kids as it is. Leave it alone.

Mill Lane is already a nightmare at 8am. How are they expecting more cars to fit through there? Its just madness.
