1.) Grossly mishandling of December 2013 drug /drug paraphernalia incident in a BCES
facultybathroom.
2.) Failure to immediately notify parents of BCES students of the dangers and risks elementary
school students were faced with due to said incident. Nonotification was provided in the
December 2013 incident.
3.) Failure to establish the proper measures to ensure the above mentionedincident of
December 2013 did not repeat itself.
4.) Continued mishandling of safety and security measures involving drugs anddrug
paraphernalia found in a BCES faculty bathroom for a second time onFebruary 11, 2014.
5.) Failure to immediately notify parents of BCES students of the dangers andrisks elementary
school students were faced with for a second time on2/11/14. Notification was eventually
made on 2/17/2014
6.) Failure to immediately remove staff that could potentially endanger, pose aserious risk to
the health and safety of students.

The repeated discovery of illicit materials within our school bathrooms confirms that current safety measures are insufficient. I am currently preparing a formal correspondence to the district board to address this ongoing failure in leadership.

The momentum behind this effort has grown to a level that can no longer be ignored by the district administration. This response proves that our community expects immediate accountability for the safety of our students.

If administrators were aware of the December incident, they should have notified parents. When a child was found to have drugs in their possession on the bus, the school notified the parents of children on that bus by phone very quickly... why the difference? We know why. The seven involved should be suspended with pay or transferred to a location where children are not accessible until the investigation is complete. The administration should be looked at as seriously as the the criminal case is for sweeping it under the rug.
I am terribly disappointed in the leadership of the Fallsburg School District, the leadership failed to notify the parents of element school children regarding the crisis that is occurring in the building. After almost 3 months of silence on the matter of repeated discovery of heroin in an adult bathroom the parents are given limited information regarding the safety breach within the school building. Parents and caregivers have not been notified if any measures were instituted since December, when the first incident occurred. What has been put in place during, this soon to be, three month long investigation? The leadership has sorely been remiss in not communicating any or all measures the school has engaged in protect the students during this disconcerting time.
This is a NO BRAINER..How can we as families have a safe level of confidence,with yhese people remaining in the school system?? Their immediate suspention should not have even been a question until the investigation has been concluded...PERIOD

Beyond Livid! How can this behavior be tolerated and allowed in our Children's school. Mr. Ivan Katz should be ashamed of himself for not having enough Guts to reveal this incident the first time it happened AND for not suspending these 7 people who 's only concern is their jobs! Shame on them .

I have family that attends this school & safety should be a top priority. When us as parents send our kids to school the staff becomes a 2nd parent to our children. If a student was found with drugs they would be suspended. Live by example.
