The Powell family / Nittany Mountain Trail Rides are once again applying to conduct large hayrides at the property at Forest Pond Lane in Benner Township, continuing the loud and disruptive party scene that we suffered through last year.
Whether or not alcohol is involved, the sheer number of people, and the frequency of hayrides being conducted almost daily, creates noise pollution, safety concerns for the surrounding forest and adjoining properties, and economic concerns over decreased property values.
Even if you don't live near the hayride site, the approval of the Powell's application opens the door for other commercial enterprises like this to move into Benner township, decrease the quality of your property, and depress the value of your home. If you do not want Benner Township to become an extension of the Penn State party scene, please sign this petition which will be presented to the Benner Township supervisors at a hearing on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Benner Township Building.

The noise from these hayride is incredibly obnoxious. The attendees are overserved, and end up on neighboring properties. Please consider not allowing them as they are not a positive addition to the community. -long time resident Jonathan McLumski
This conditional use permit would negatively effect the quality of life where I live and directly Impact the property values in our neighborhood.
What is the Powell's drug and alcohol policy? Alcohol may be a no, but how do you check for drugs? These are college students in a majority. I would almost guarantee there will be drugs and then what happens?
No more hay rides!
There isn't enough security and the risk is to high.
Only time to some kid gets seriously hurt or killed on these ventures.

Students generally live by a different schedule, than typical working family, nightly disruptions unfair to tax paying residents, lowering of property values due to increased activity, sinkholes hundreds of feet deep adjoin the trail ride property.
