***Update*** Today (6/7/19), this petition and comments of over 500 people were sent to the Dallas mayor, city council members, and library board members with a letter asking for Courageous leadership in these confusing times.

The original story hour dates were June 9 & 16. It seems that the Dallas Public Library has now cancelled those events and only have 1 still on the calendar for July 13th.

This fight has merely just begun and whether or not we are able to get these things shut down this summer, they will be back and we must be vigilant and vocal.

Thank you for being willing to stand up!

____________________________________________________________________________

On June 9th and June 16th, 2019, the Dallas PUBLIC library will host some of the first Dallas area Drag Queen Story Hours. These events, advertised as “family friendly” and for preschool children as young as 3 years old, will feature story tellers Cassie Nova, Jenna Skyy, and Your Highness, men dressed in drag, reading fairly tales and children’s books to area kids.

Please help us send a message to the Dallas Public Library and to Dallas City Officials, whether you are a resident or just a concerned citizen, that this is not an appropriate use of tax dollars or publicly funded resources. City services should not be used to promote the activity and lifestyles of drag queens to the young impressionable minds of children. Surely we can find better role models for our children than men dressed as garish women who often wear studded leather, lingerie, horns, and heels to entertain. Let’s try to remind the City of Dallas that maintaining the innocence and safety of our children is not only a worthy endeavor, but our duty. Stop corrupting the purity and innocence of our precious children. Our children should not be used as the sacrificial lamb on the altar of inclusivity. City of Dallas: WAKE UP...the emporer has no clothes!!!

Please sign this petition if you agree and want to make your frustration, disappointment, and disapproval known.

***Another thing that is important to know about these events...2 of the storytellers in Houston have now been determined to be convicted child sex offenders...one as a 16 year old against children ages 4, 5, 6, and 8.

Libraries should not be promoting misogyny to children. What sort of message does men mocking women, showing them as hyper sexulaized caricatures, accomplish? Not only is this bad for children, it is bad for women.

This is extremely inappropriate. Library story time should be centered around promoting early literacy skills. This is distracting and confusing. Please remove these events from Dallas Public Libraries.

This is a ridiculous use of tax funded facilities. Young children are needlessly bombarded daily with sexual imagery on TV as well as in advertising from billboards on the highway to the aisles in the grocery store. Do we have to actually feature it in our Library Story Hours?

Radicalized lifestyles do not belong at a children's story hour, especially a tax-funded one. Children, especially at a young age, should be led in the natural virtues and learn to love what is essentially good, true, and lovable through imitation and delight.

Completely inappropriate use of tax dollars. Citizens should have a say in what kinds of activities take place at Public Libraries. If these were women story tellers dressed like this I would have the same comment. Why must children be exposed to this kind of sexualization?

It's not right to normalize dysphoria, but we can love these men by meeting their obvious deficiencies and by getting them the help they need. In the meantime, let's not introduce their issues to children.
