We, the undersigned residents and parents of Homer and surrounding areas, do hereby petition that the Homer Public Library remove all books promoting transgender ideology, drag queens, homosexuality, and all other books which are intended to indoctrinate children in LGBTQ+ ideologies from the children’s and juvenile sections of the library. If the library must have them, we petition that a section outside of the children’s area be designated for such books so that parents who do not wish for their children to stumble across these confusing ideas may allow their children to browse freely.

I am honestly stunned to see two hundred and fifty names on this list. It is all of you who brought this to life and pushed it forward.

I am truly humbled by the messages I receive daily from parents who simply want more control over what their children encounter at the library. These stories prove that I am not the only one feeling this way. This momentum belongs entirely to the community members who have chosen to speak up.

Seeing so many of you join this effort has been humbling beyond words. This momentum belongs entirely to the parents who care deeply about our local library, and I am just grateful to be part of the conversation you all started.

I’m curious how your kids will make an “informed decision” without being informed? Kids will be kids, and some kids won’t be hetero-normative. Will you teach them to hate themselves and others? Who would Jesus hate? Suggesting that we burn books is a MAJOR red flag folks.

I will not allow bigotry and hate to rule our town, and I hope others will join me in speaking up against this petition. Knowledge is power, and open access to literature is one of the few freedoms women and children have in this country. Don’t step in to limit knowledge about something that you don’t understand.

It's one thing to have this 'helpful' information available, and it's another thing to push it in our children's faces. With all respect, we are not asking you to exterminate the LGBTQXYZ community, we are asking you to move these books in the appropriate section. Good grief.

This is a parents decision to offer, peruse or direct attention to the LGB issue with their young, impressionable children. It is not for the library to decide or administer indoctrination ideology. LG et al, is at best 6 (six) percent of the population.

As I Homer resident I support removal of all material containing this content being removed or as presented here, having a confined section separate from the designated children’s area.

I 100% agree. These types of content should never be available for children to stumble upon but rather should be brought up in conversation only between a child and their parent.

Where is Waldo I mean dunleavy? Please have your Attorney General write another meaningless letter of instruction to the perverts in charge. Using the beautiful tax funded stationary, and we will celebrate as we watch the law continue to be broken and struggle to find Waldo!
