We oppose the proposed zone change on Middle Sound Loop Rd which would allow for a 72-unit multi-family senior housing development.
This development would be very close to the intersection of Middle Sound Loop Rd and busy Market St. As residents of this area know, there is already a lot of traffic on this one way in and out road. The addition of 72+ vehicles would only compound that traffic.
There are additional concerns such as environmental impact, storm water drainage, and safety of children who walk or bike to and from school.

I have been reviewing the recent comments regarding the traffic patterns along Middle Sound Loop Road. It is clear that the concerns about safety on our local streets are shared by many of you. I am currently compiling these accounts to present during the next planning board meeting.

The momentum behind this petition highlights how many of us share deep concerns regarding the proposed development on Middle Sound Loop Road. This response clearly signals to local officials that our community expects a more thoughtful approach to infrastructure and safety.

Middle Sound is already way to dangerous, busy and over crowded for any type of development like this. Make it make sense!!! We are destroying our twin, city and great road to live on. I personally moved on this side of town to get away from the overcrowding and it slowly has found it’s way here. Why?! Because of greed. This complex does not need to be built here.
The roads and infrastructure are way undersized for current existing communities, let alone additionally handling this type of development. This will only be a further detriment to the middle sound community community and adjacent areas and those that would move into these senior condos if approved.
No way. One way in, one way out: an elementary school that is the peach of the community, there’s no way we need to be building condos on Middle Sound. It’s one of the oldest communities in the area reknown for its old school single family homes and much nicer mini mansions. No way.
Please do not approve this multi-family unit. The intersection at Middle Sound and Market is one of the busiest in the county and and has the longest light in the county. An additional 72+ vehicles driven by older people is going to cause even more congestion and increase the number of accidents coming out of the Publix shopping center. I drive this area on a regular basis. Please, please, please do not approve this.
I reside at 217 Bloomington lane, which is directly behind this property and this area cannot handle these buildings, the traffic going out to market. Already an overcongested area fully support not approving this zoning request.
No more!!! We are FULL!! STOP the work around game!
Keep middle sound single family residential. Traffic is already terrible.

Middle Sound Loop at the corner of Market Street is already way over loaded, and since Wilmington does not see fit to “trigger” their lights, I can’t imagine what that corner would become with at least 72 more cars added! This clearly is a ploy to add money to someone’s pockets and is poorly thought out!
