The township has officially denied the request for the cell tower construction. I am grateful to the 218 people who committed their time to ensure our neighborhood remained a priority. We must remain attentive to local zoning developments to ensure this outcome holds over the long term.

ATTEND THE ZONING BOARD MEETING ON MARCH 7, 2012 AT 7PM IN THE LOWER LEVEL TOWNSHIP HALL ON THE FOLLOWING MATTER:

 Dear Neighbors,

Verizon Wireless has applied to the Orion Township Planning Commission for a Special Land Usage in order to construct at 145-foot monopole/cell phone tower and related ground equipment including a 12' X 26' pre-fabricated shelter and a new telecommunications facility to include a 30' X 60' fenced compound. The subject site is an Office and Professional - 1 (OP-1) Zoning District. (Sidwell #09-20-351-011) This site is located on the northwest corner of Baldwin and Waldon Roads next door to the dentist and chiropractic office. As concerned parents and residents of Lake Orion we are adamantly against the construction of this cellular tower for multiple reasons including: * the unknown long-term health risks of having a cellular tower so close to our homes. * the inevitable loss of home values due to the sightliness of this overwhelming structure. * the interruption to our daily lives due to the construction and maintenance of the cell tower. * the questionable benefit of this cellular tower for our town-where most people seem to be content with their current Verizon Wireless coverage. * the likelihood of other cellular towers from other carriers being built in Lake Orion and Orion Township once a precedent is set if this tower is allowed to be constructed. If the construction of a 145-foot cell tower in our neighborhood concerns you please sign this online petition and please attend the March 7th meeting at 7pm at the Township Offices at 2525 Joslyn Road, Lake Orion. A large community presence at this meeting will help make our fears and our adamant disapproval of this proposed construction known to the Zoning Board members and Verizon Wireless. There are already 92 antennas and 24 towers in a 4 mile radius

Say NO to the Verizon Wireless cell tower to preserve our neighborhoods character and keep our children safe!

My family is sick. I am sick and the ringing in our ears NEVER stops. Please stop killing the world with these useless devices. We all know they ARE slowly killing us. All anyone has to do is a bit of research to see how humanity is suffering from this. Peace and love

This is ridiculous. I moved here for the peace and quiet not to look at a giant metal pole next to the dentist office. stop this now

145 feet is way to high for our neighborhood. we dont want this eyesore ruining our views and dropping our property values. take it somewhere else
