To the City Officials of San Jose, California:
We the undersigned oppose the proposed placement of a Verizon cell tower in our residential area,for the following reasons:
Negative health effects of continuous cell tower radiation:
In 2011 the WHO classified the type of radiation that cell towers emit as “possibly carcinogenic to humans”.Exposure will be 6 to 7 hours a day at nearby schools and preschools, and up to 24 hours a day for residents.Once this tower is built, Verizon can increase exposure levels with more antennas without informing anyone.
Negative effect on aesthetics of homes and character of neighborhood:
An industrial 60ʼ cell tower is incompatible with the surrounding residential neighborhood with no high rise structures.Landscaping proposed by Verizon will take decades to mature and never adequately screen the view of the tower.
Negative effect on property values:
The opinion of local realtors is that a cell tower at this site will lower the property values of surrounding homes.
No gap in coverage:
Verizonʼs online coverage map already shows great coverage in the area surrounding the proposed cell tower.
Lack of sufficient disclosure for a project with huge potential impact on the community:
Only residents within 500 ft were notified. Most parents at nearby schools were unaware of the project or hearing.
A 2nd hearing should be held after residents within 1000 ft and parents at all nearby schools have been informed.
We do support responsible use of wireless technology and careful placement of cell towers that uses the best safety
information available, protects property values, and meets environmental requirements. This proposal does not.
So we request that you deny the proposed Verizon project (File No. SP11-039) at 3880 San Felipe Road.

500 feet is way too short of a radius for notifications. Everyone in this neighborhood should have been told before they started planning this eyesore
TOTAL B.S. why do they get to ruin our view and our health just because they want more bars. move it.
Not right next to an elementary school. Period. Whoever thought this was a good idea needs to rethink their priorities.
Ridiculous. We dont have any reception issues in this part of San Jose. This is just about money and zero about coverage. Stop it now.
The property values are already struggling as it is. We dont need a giant ugly tower looming over our street. Put it in an industrial park instead.

Keep this thing away from our kids! My daughter goes to school right there and I dont want her under radiation all day long. Find somewhere else.
