In our opinion Laura Deckelman has done so much for our Community when it comes to the Rockaway Ferry that the Dock (Landing) should be named after her. It's fair and very appropriate at the same time. Whoever agrees with us please sign this petition and tell your friends, neighbors and Ferry riders to do the same.

The emails I keep sending to the transit board are being met with the same wall of silence as always. It is draining to keep pushing for recognition that should have been granted years ago but we are not walking away from this.

One hundred people have signed on to honor Laura by naming the landing. The work to get this recognized is exhausting but seeing your names here keeps me going.

The path forward is exhausting but seeing the names add up gives me hope. We need to find the energy for one last push to get past this hundred signature mark today.

Laura is FAMOUS in our circles for her promotions of the ferry and it's service to the Rockaways. Through her hard work and social networking, many have been able to take advantage of this scenic, shorter means of travel into the city. Please have the ferry dock named in her honor.
I am originally from Far Rockaway and was graduated from Far Rockaway High School. I have known Laura since childhood and strongly support this petition as she deserves this recognition for her passionate dedication to this project. June Spunberg (originally Kreisberg)
I'm a born & raised Rockaway girl & my family has roots there, going back to the early 1900's. I know Laura Deckelman & her tireless efforts on behalf of the Rockaway Ferry should not go unnoticed. It would be wonderful for you to bestow this honor on her.
Laura, a peer of mine in FarRock, has stayed in FarRock..and done so much for the community - especially during, and after, Hurricane Sandy. An advocate of the ferry, she was also a key chronicler of the aftermath of the hurricane. I cannot think of a person who deserves this honor more.
Laura Deckelman worked tirelessly for our community to get a ferry for the people of Rockaway. It is only fitting that the dock be named after her. She continued working for this goal when most people gave up.

Philip McManus, Chairman of the Queens Public Transit Committee supports and endorses this great honor for a great lady. The Queen of the Rockaway Ferry, Laura Deckelman. We support naming the Rockaway Ferry Landing as "Deckelman's Landing."
