The park management finally agreed to our terms and committed to fixing the fences immediately. I am completely overwhelmed that this happened because you chose to stand with our farmers. Please keep a close watch on the fields to make sure these promises become reality.
We, the Farmers of Namaqualand want to make known our extreme annoyance with Namaqua National Park's blatant disregard of their responsibilities.
As a result of the mismanagement of Namaqua National Park, the farmers are being robbed of our income and our livelihood.
The management of Namaqua National Park is neglecting to:
- Erect and maintain proper fences to keep predators inside the park and off our farms
- Comply with the law on fences according to National Environmental Management Protected Act 2003 (Act No 57/2003)
- Sustainably manage the veld inside Namaqua National Park
- Provide adequate water and food to the animals living inside Namaqua National Park, forcing them to seek food and water elsewhere
- Employ enough people to manage the above effectively
- Respect the rights of their neighbours, the Farmers
- Manage the economic and social impact of their activity in Namaqualand.
We care about the environment. We care about our animals. We care about our community. We demand that Namaqua National Park starts to do the same.
If you care too, please sign our petition so that we can hand it over to SANparks and demand change.

Listen to the outcry for help from the Farmers of Namaqualand! Their request is fair and reasonable. Set up a meeting with them, put an action plan in place and stick to it. Namaqua Natoinal Park inability to solve this challenge is having a negative impact on the region's social and economic well being.

Ons boere ly ongelooflike groot verliese a.g.v luiperds wat nooit n probleem was voor 2011.

Please do what you must do. I lost many animals because of poor fences and that you do not repair your part or make it higher

Mismanagement of financial - and staff recources also contribute to the poor condition of the Park's infrastructure and negligence by management to conform. To the detriment of the local farmers, their livestock and have a devastating on their income. The latter which they need to successfully contribute to SA's foodchain and ensure job stability for their staff.
