I have just learned that Excel Dynamic Solutions (Pty) Ltd and Omegore Mineral and Trading CC are planning to mine over the Goanikontes commercial farm and the Dorob national park.

Goanikontes farm has a historical building from 1906 and is situated right next to the newly built Livingstone's Private Tented Lodge, where the other historical building is found on Farm Livingstone.

Minerals are not the ONLY gems of Namibia. Our Tourism is a sustainable long term income for many years to come. The popular moon landscape road will be destroyed and taken away, as well as the popular open air dinner venues for the coast.

The natural wildlife will suffer under the harsh mining conditions and will perish. In this area where they want to mine, several families of Namaqua Chameleon (Endangered) are living there, Brown Hyena (Endangered), Namib Desert Beetle (Endangered), Namib Web-footed Gecko (Endangered) and Honey Bees (they might not be endangered, but have a VERY important role in all of our futures). We also have quite a few Ana Trees, which I believe to also be protected. Now, I can carry on by naming so many more, but everyone knows that there is no value to our nature.

So, yes, opening a mine might create a few jobs, BUT how many hospitality influenced jobs is it going to shut down by denying access to this area and taking away the beauty of what we now still bragging with.

So, I beg of you, please stand with us, not only to protect our nature, but also our tourism.

Sharmine Livingstone (081 146 9550) PLEASE WhattsApp me if you want me to send you the map and paperwork!

We phoned excel solutions. A Mrs Mila was wishi washi with info. No, they are not mining. We asked for a map? She said they are not mining! So why doing an environmental impact assessment for an area, they do not have a map of, and have no intentions to mine in?

It is with great disappointment to note the the impact on tourism has not been listed in the BID for EPL . no. 10977. This just shows that the applicant and Excel Dynamic Solutions has not done any homework on the area, or choose to ignore the largest economic impact this project will have.

The park has been assigned to protect the desert with all miracles . Land disturbed by mining will never rehabilitate. Already poaching and destruction of plant life is rife. We want to keep the desert as the gem that it is

I am against the Area for Mining. As I have a Historic background to it. As there are Graves of my forefarthers. And the Moonvalley as such will be destroyed.

This is Nature conservation area as well as a Namibian Heritage. Mining polutes the air and not only destroy the natural environment, but will also break down a pivotal area which Nnaminians identify strongly with as well as destroy one of the most important tourist sites of that area. The moonlandscape which is part of the Erongo region identity.

We have a plot on Palmenhorst and very frightened on the speed of new prospectors and mines popping up everywhere. I thought the rule was 5km from the river no mining could take place. We also have a tourism company and conduct Moonlandscape / Welwitschia Tours and this will greatly impact tourism, the environment etc.

Mining profits is temporary-and probably in the wrong hands after all-whilst tourism is forever, and for the people.I thought the new WOMAN in charge is for GOOD only.?
