We the residents of Montgomery Mutual and the Leisure World of Maryland community, request the Montgomery Mutual Board of Directors rescind their order to remove the holiday season decorations located at 3308 Chiswick Court in the Canterbury Section of Montgomery Mutual.
This colorful joyous display is delightful and has warmed our hearts as well as those of our family, friends and especially our grandchildren. The display is especially comforting this year because of the significant loss and grief experienced by many of us; loss of freedom, loss of time with family, loss of income and job, and loss of loved ones, just to name a few.
Many of our beloved holiday traditions — like parties with friends and family gatherings — have been canceled because of COVID-19. Enjoying these delightful decorations on our walks alone and with family is one of the ways we safely and healthfully lift our spirits.

I definitely understand why there have to be rules in this community, but we are human beings and NOT robots --- so let's be a little more human now and opt on the side of joy and love. We need it more now than ever. People bring their children, grandchildren, friends, neighbors and dogs to see this display and the smiles are soooooo worth it.
This heavy handed, capricious order by Montgomery Mutual BOD is just another example of why many people refuse to move to COC /HOA communities.
I saw the decorations last night. I was curious to see what the uproar was about. Yes, I can understand why some might think it's a bit unusual, but this is, after all, the Holiday season. I found it to be perfectly acceptable and a welcome addition to that mutual. I believe the display should be allowed to remain there. If the mutual wants some of the lights dimmed at a reasonable time each evening or expect that it should be taken down for the season (by an agreed upon date) after the holidays, that might be a good compromise. But to not allow the resident to display these items at all (prior to the holidays) seems a bit dictatorial to me.

It's a piece of Disneyland in one's backyard. I see no harm in it for the holiday season and appreciate its ecumenical character.

Happy Holidays! Lights and Cheer! Reminds me of Sparky's Christmas House in Bethlehem, Pa. where I grew up. We all need all our favorite memories.

Living directly behind Carol has been a Holiday Treat. So many of us get excited and enjoy her seasonal display. She takes us back to our childhood days where all children delight seeing the decorations. Now it is our grandchildren and we "the young at heart" who together enjoy her decorations.
