For the last year and a half my boyfriend and I have proudly decorated our home’s entrance to celebrate holidays, seasons and Super Bowl victories. Recently (and what seems to be randomly) my condo association has decided to enforce a by-law that states outdoor decor is not permitted. This is where you (and this petition) comes into play, with enough signatures I’m hoping to encourage a by-law change so we can continue to brighten up Spruce street with (what I call) art.
To be honest we decorate partially for ourselves, but primarily for our community. We enjoy the dozens of folks who stop us to compliment / thank us for giving them something to appreiceate on their walk to work, school or just walk in general. It’s those moments that make it worth it. When children in strollers giggle or point, when folks take selfies, send pictures to friends or start EAGLES chants outside our door. Our decor is a place for is to show pride during gay Pride month, patriotism during July and holiday cheer October - December. Decorating it has become something we look forward to monthly. We just want to continue making people smile.
The quiet moments people share about how these displays brighten their daily walks continue to confirm why this matters so much. I have been preparing a formal proposal for the next board meeting to address the by-law language directly. Your reflections on what creates a sense of community in our neighborhood provide the foundation for that conversation.

Seeing this movement grow confirms that these small moments of joy on Spruce Street hold real value for our neighbors. This momentum reflects a shared desire to keep our community vibrant and welcoming for everyone who walks past our door.

Id start sending them a cleaning bill as your condo fee covers the exterior upkeep to your property. it actually reinforces this is a home not a basement entrance an keeps people from dropping additional trash on the st.

I absolutely love these decorations. It’s one of my favorite things about the neighborhood in the last year and a half (I’ve been living around the corner for 7 years). The neighborhood will suffer a loss of these go away!

Hopefully the board of your condo assn can get their act together before they face legal ramifications for arbitrarily singling you out. I always walk out of my way to enjoy whatever the months decor may be, and it’s vibrant temporary art which you guys contribute, that makes our city the exciting diverse community to live in.

I am one of those people who absolutely loves seeing the creative decorations on the railing each month. I have even told my friends to be sure to see what's on the railing. The world needs more happiness like this. It's a wonderful contribution to the community. How sad if the condo board succeeds. I live in New Jersey and love walking by.

I live on Rodman st and we have over 35 flags and have had articles written and tours that come to our street. It has created charm and now people want to live on our block. Good luck!

LOVE walking by the corner of 11 and spruce and seeing happy spirits
I live 11th and spruce (1024 spruce)
This is part art display, part holiday display, and part just fun. Adds to neighborhood friendly atmosphere.

It is not only tastefully done, i believe it makes the block brighter and safer. Your neighbor on Spruce and 11th.
