Started by unhappy school uniform 6 years ago

I have been having personal conversations with Monmouth comprehensive school for the past 3 years. They have dictated we can only use 2 suppliers to purchase their uniform. After researching I have enough information to disagree with these. The cost of the uniform is significantly higher than other local schools and can be sourced cheaper elsewhere.

I would like the school to relax their policy to allow purchase of cheaper uniform to benefit all parents who have to spend over £200 for uniform that our children are growing out of before they get enough use.

Monmouth comprehensive school charges twice as much as Abergavenny whose uniform is very similar. We should not have to pay that to comply with a rigid policy that goes against government guidance and impacts on our child's well-being.

Our neighbouring school In Abergavenny are allowed more flexibility around where they purchase their uniforms from so why should Monmouth comp be any different?

Having to pay for uniforms with Blazers that cost nearly £50 each is expensive especially if you have twins. Also to buy the uniform you got to go Ross on Wye to buy it!

Trutex trousers are consistently poor quality and keep falling apart at the seems. It is embarrassing for anyone, but particularly teenagers, to have their clothing fall apart and therefore exposing themselves. Trutex is not fit for purpose, and is far too expensive.

I found Trutex very difficult. I ordered my child’s uninform at the end of July and have had to make 5 visits so far to collect it from Matalan Cwmbran (I live in usk) I also still haven’t received 2 items off the list and it’s 16th September now.

When my children were school age it was a real struggle to afford school uniform. For a school to dictate where it has to be purchased from is totally unfair and discriminatory against lower income families. Please Monmouth School, reconsider this unfair rule.

Failure to fit is also a problem for us due to lack of choice, my fairly standard shaped tall slim girls cannot wear school trousers due to fit

We should not be forced to buy from only one supplier and one outlet, overpriced and generating funds for the school at our expense IMO ..
