We are campaigning for the speed on Milton Road to be reduced from national speed limit, to 40mph. We would like this reduction because there have been fatal accidents on this road, and as well as this, there are businesses, housing estates, and livery yards located along this road. Every day people run, cycle and ride down this road, as well as drive, and the current speed is dangerous and unacceptable.
An example of this was shown recently, when the life of a 19 year old boy was tragically taken in an unfortunate accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 20-year-old male passenger was taken to Oxford’s John Radcliffe hospital, with a broken right shoulder and broken left arm. A second passenger, a 19-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries and was released from hospital that morning.

I carry the memory of that young life lost on Milton Road with me every time I drive past those houses and livery yards. I am currently compiling your personal accounts of near misses to present to the local council so they finally understand the reality of our daily danger.

Seeing this grow makes me feel like we might finally prevent another tragedy on Milton Road. Knowing so many people recognize the danger my neighbors and I face every single day gives me real hope for change.

Too many people have died on this stretch. My kids cycle past there and i worry every single day when they leave the house.
total death trap. absolute joke of a speed limit for such a busy road
40mph is more than reasonable given the amount of housing and businesses now. Just do it before another family gets that phone call.
Why does it take a death for the council to actually listen? Fix this now.
I drive this road every day for work and people tailgate me constantly just for doing the speed limit. Its insane how fast some go.
