During the January 2025 historic snowstorm, Milton Water System failed to communicate with their customers about water being shut off, why it was shut off and about boil water advisories due to their antiquated way of doing business. Their lack of a customer facing website, social media pages, text message system, email message system and other modern communication tools and online bill payment systems employed by every other municipal utility severely effected their ability to communicate with customers about boil water advisories which poses a serious public health issue. This petition aims to send a clear message to those in charge of Milton Water System that they MUST modernize their systems and bring them into the 21st century. Their customers deserve and demand more, clear, and advance communication from them about emergency situations such as those described above.

The stories shared in the comments regarding the lack of transparency during recent service disruptions highlight a recurring pattern of operational failure. I am currently compiling these accounts to present before the upcoming board meeting to ensure they understand the true impact on residents.

The feedback received during this surge demonstrates a clear consensus regarding the necessity for improved utility communication. This momentum confirms that our community expects modern standards for public safety notifications.

This is legal action worthy. I was also unaware of a boil advisory and my family used the water until my neighborhood page notified us.

Milton water system needs some type of text, email or social media system to alert customers about boil advisories and important information. It’s sad that customers had to research and find the Youngsville mayor to get some type of info about our Milton water. Do better MWS.

I shouldn’t have to look on Facebook to see if my water is drinkable. We live in a digital age where text notifications or email notifications are easily accessible for these sort of situations.

I wasn’t notified that the water was being turned off, have NEVER received a stitch of info about the boil mandate, and now I’m extremely concerned about what else is not being told to us! KATC can be notified but not the people PAYING for the product/service? Unacceptable.

This is because of the lady that works there! The woman in the back, Candy is her name I believe, has to be the rudest person I have done business with. Now Marta, the young girl in the front, is the sweetest and very personable. Candy doesn’t want the move and the changes or the updating of any systems because of job security, if I was her I would be worried about losing my job too, she doesn’t have any business working with the public. They are moving literally right across from Miramar they need to get with the times and accept that Milton is growing and digital information is the way for convenience and recording of any and all information, they also need more workers and better systems for notices, calling someone the day before a disconnection without leaving a message or giving someone time to actually get back in touch with them is not a notice, or amply time to make arrangements, their billing is not broken down nor are notices on the bill clearly stated.
