Martin County has guidelines in our codes for nursing homes, children\'s homes, and group homes, but we do not have guidelines for recovery homes, sober houses or transitional housing; or apartment-type housing which rents beds rather than a complete unit for which rental period will vary from bed to bed; or however one wants to define a specific group residence where substance abusers are trying to recover.
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to put definitions and land use regulation into our Martin County Codes which specifically address the types of housing and land use described above.
My property value is tanking because of the house next door. Nobody told us we were living next to a transient rental. Need some real rules immediately.

Enough is enough. These places are popping up everywhere in our neighborhoods without any oversight at all. People deserve to feel safe in their own homes.
