Subject: Urgent action required to upgrade the following roads from gravel to tar.
(as the First Matter)
1. D3375_020 from In-Service to Matlala Phoffu(D3376_020)
2. D3376_020(Phoffu to Dibeng) and connects with D3386_040
3. D3386_040 (Phoffu to Pethole) and D3386_010 (Phetole to Ga-Selolo)
4. D3377_090 (Limburg to Semaneng), D3377_070 & D3377_040
We, the undersigned, residents of Matlala Villages, are writing to express our deep concern regarding the escalating crisis of roads, D3375_020; D3376_020; D3386_040 & D3386_010 and D3377_090, D3377_070 & D3377_040 , which are in dire situation.
We therefore appeal for the urgent construction of the abovementioned roads to tar.
These roads play a vital and critical role for the livelihood of Matlala villagers. For years, they have made it difficult for residents of Matlala to commute in and out of the region for business, school, family and leisure reasons that are key to the region’s economic growth. The roads make life difficult and pose danger to accidents especially during rainy seasons.
These roads do not adequately serve the needs of Matlala villages for transportation purposes. We therefore, appeal for their urgent construction to tar, which is long overdue.
Second Matter: Maintenance
Currently, all three roads are in a state of disrepair, prone to flooding and low-lying bridges are often compromised, and overall, they pose safety concerns for users/commuters/travellers. The maintenance of these gravel roads currently requires prioritisation. To ensure that they remain smooth and safely navigable, it would be beneficial to establish more regular upkeep intervals. We would appreciate your attention to this matter (maintenance) and hope for your support in enhancing the connectivity and safety of our communities, whilst you resume with plans to tar the roads in question.
Phoffu serves as the inaugural village with access to former Aganang Local Municipality, which is currently under the administration of the Polokwane Municipality. In light of this, it would be beneficial for the tar road to commence at route D3376 (Phoffu).
Third Matter: Mobile Clinic
Furthermore, we earnestly request the relevant authorities to enhance service delivery in our community by establishing an essential service of a mobile clinic. Children, old and young people, mothers and pregnant mothers travel long distances to access basic health services and that poses healthy risks.
Fourth and last Matter (for now): Satellite Police
Villagers live in fear from the terrorisation of rampant village crime, which desperately calls for a satellite police station. Kindly do the honour to ensure rural safety of our mothers, fathers, and children, young and old people.
We would really appreciate acknowledgement receipt of this petition within 24 hours and a detailed response of Action Plan to the four matters in question within 14 working days after receiving this petition, to ensure timely processing and consideration. We would appreciate your urgent attention to these matters.
May the meaning of “Aganang” have a true meaning to us, as in uplifting one another!
