Help re-name the Pakachoag Hiking Trail of Auburn, MA to honor one of the most impactful, influential, and passionate environmental advocates, Mr. Mark M. Blazis. Mark spent many years as teacher in the Auburn School system and frequently hosted field trips on this property to teach students about nature. From birds to butterflies, insects, and ferns, students sketched and narrated a field guide each year thanks to the guidance of this extraordinary man. Since the hiking trail was originally named after its geographic location as a formality in 2017, this dedication to Mark M. Blazis is an appropriate honor for such an incredible man whose impact across hundreds, even thousands of lives will never be forgotten.

I have been hearing from so many former students who still remember the lessons Mark taught them on these very trails. Reading their memories reminds me exactly why we need to make this change permanent.

Seeing this groundswell of support reminds me of how many of us still carry the lessons Mr. Blazis taught us out on those trails. It is deeply moving to see his legacy recognized by so many people who were shaped by his passion for the natural world.
