The administration in Wicomico County cannot ignore the massive surge of pressure we are building against them. They have stalled for too long on implementing an ASL curriculum but this momentum proves they are running out of excuses.

I took ASL in college and was able to introduce my elementary and middle school students to it in a private school. It's a beautiful language that comes with a rich culture and history. Including ASL in county schools will promote inclusion, understanding, and enhance brain development of hearing and hearing impaired students.
ASL was taught to me when I was in middle school, and I LOVED IT!!! It was the highlight of my day!!
Asl should totally be a class in Wicomico County. I have always wanted to learn it, but have never had a chance. hopefully I'll have a chance now!
I have been working for the board of ed as an ASL interpreter for 18 years. I highly support ASL being taught as a foreign language.
Having struggled with very significant hearing loss for my entire life, this is a cause very near and dear to my heart. Bravo, Gillian.
What a great opportunity for our students!

It is found that children with language disabilities like dyslexia can't learn a foreign language but can learn ASL. It will help those children get to college.
