We oppose reducing the quality of Ridgefield Public School's art program by sharing art teachers across the district. To have only three teachers servicing all six elementary schools will result in fewer opportunities for our children to engage in the creative process. These art teachers will have little chance left to even teach a basic curriculum, let alone work on time intensive clay projects, collaborative projects with classroom teachers, or a yearly art show. Please look elsewhere for savings in the BOE budget - savings that do not affect our vital arts program.

I just looked at the screen and saw we hit a hundred signatures which is honestly kind of surreal because I was worried nobody else actually cared about the clay projects. It feels like a small win but it keeps me up at night thinking about those kids losing their creative time if we do not fix this budget gap.

My girls would be very unhappy to possibly Lose Mrs. Hansen as their art teacher. It is not ok to cut arts in anyway. They should be just as important for their development as any other subject.
As a mental health professional and parent, I oppose the proposed cuts to the art program. Arts play a vital role in child's development and provide an opportunity for creative expression. We need the arts more than ever.
The art program at Ridgebury was the best in town. Please preserve the arts in each elementary school. The teachers will not have time to do wonderful work with the students if they need to spread themselves between so many elementary schools.
I have 2 children at Ridgebury Elementary School. Please keep, or boost the amount of time these kids are exposed to art. I know you, as educators, know how important the opportunity to be creative is to the developing brain. Let's be creative as adults and find alternative solutions to the budget problem.
It is critical that no cuts are made to our art program. Ridgefield is widely known as an arts destination regionally-what an embarrassment it would be for such a prolific arts community to decrease funding for our wonderful art program.

It’s unacceptable that art would be cut! All sports require close interaction whereas art can easily be done from an appropriate distance. I would expect any cut to be temporary so cut something that the kids shouldn’t be doing this year anyway!

Art is therapy! Music is therapy! I have 2 children at RES and they absolutely love (and need) art class. They so look forward to the end of year art show. It gives them a great sense of accomplishment, confidence and joy. Please do not take this from them! Do not cut the arts!!
