Members of the CLRA Board of Trustees:

We request the Board of Trustees maintain CLRA's purpose to support diverse rowing interests throughout our community by keeping its “pay-as-you-row” fee structure. This fee structure is generally perceived as fair and encourages members to sustain long-term club membership as circumstances in our lives evolve. There are many reasonable ways to address issues that inevitably come up within this framework.

I am a novice sculler who joined the club as a way to thank the members who offered their help in teaching me to row. I hope to continue as a member, but if the fees are raised to the amount suggested, I'm out.

Pay as you go is one of the main reasons our club has maintained such a broad community appeal. We would become a smaller and less inclusive club. KEEP pay as you row.

We are not just like any other rowing club, that's why we have succeeded so far. Those people who desire that we offer the same product that virtually every other club does should join another club. We have something structurally unique. The Trustees' duty is to preserve that uniqueness: Rowing for all. Not rowing for the best rowers.

We are a community of rowers not an ad-hoc committee of racers.

To minimize overhead for monthly billing, you may consider asking members to pay upfront a larger amount and monthly charges can be deducted from that.

It is essential to preserve the “community” nature of our club; an organization that serves the diverse rowing interests of the members and where the leadership listens to the membership. We need to retain the current “pay-as-you-row” fee structure and not risk financial uncertainty,

I am totally in agreement that our club should keep the “pay as you row” pay structure, and strongly believe that we need the diverse types of rowers rather than putting the emphasis on just competitive rowers

Perhaps have a cap on boat fees for active racers.
