We the undersigned, respectfully request that the Redondo Beach Harbor Commission and the City Council reinstate the “hand launch” flat rate for the Marina Parking lot. The hand launch is the only safe location within miles to access the harbor and open ocean for SUPs and Kayaks. Marina Del Rey and San Pedro are the next safe coastal access locations without a dangerous surf launch. This launch is especially helpful for the young, old or the beginner. With the increase to $2 per hour for parking the city has made it more difficult for families and those on lower or set incomes to enjoy a lengthy stay in the harbor.

The flat rate will help to increase the number of people visiting your area and encourage them to spend their money on food, drinks, ice and gas rather than $2 per hour on parking. The on street parking around the lot may also become more congested for local parking if we are forced to unload and then park for free on the city streets.

At this time there are two special rates already existing at the Marina parking lot; the Sport Fishing operation has a special rate for their customers as does the Boat Hoist.

In the past a simple visual inspection by the parking attendant would verify if the car leaving the lot had an SUP or a kayak and they would be eligible for the “hand launch” flat rate.

PLEASE REINSTATE THE “HAND LAUNCH’ FLAT RATE FOR PARKING IN THE REDONDO BEACH KING HARBOR MARINA LOT.

COASTAL ACCESS AND ESPECIALLY AFFORDABLE COASTAL ACCESS IS AN INTREGAL PART OF OUR BEAUTIFUL CALIFORNIA COASTLINE AND IT SHOULD BE AVAILABLE TO ALL YOUR LOCAL CONSTITUENTS...ESPECIALLY THE YOUNG, THE OLD AND THOSE ON A FIXED INCOME.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people care about this harbor access. If everyone who signed could send this link to just three people today we might hit that target before the next council meeting.

I am truly humbled by the messages many of you have sent about how much the harbor access means to your families. You all have provided such clear insight into why these changes are putting such a burden on our community. Your stories are the engine behind this effort and I am just doing my best to point people toward what you have already built.

I really never expected to see a hundred names on this request. The only reason this is gaining any traction is because of you taking a moment to sign.

The money people spend before and after launching and the tax revenue generated from those expenditures is likely greater then any revenue to be gained by increasing fees which will decrease use

As a disabled Vet who uses safe launch sites for my kayak, could you consider maintaining a flat rate? It would greatly help those of us who are on a fixed and limited income. Thank you.

Coastal Commission staff says they oversee these things that affect coastal access, including coastal zone parking fees. Standard fee is $2 or less per hour, CAPPED AT $12 TO $15 PER DAY. King Harbor's uncapped $2/hr works out to 3 times that for 24 hr use.

The Redondo Beach logo of "More to Sea" will become "Less to Sea" for me if this goes through. I'll be heading to Cabrillo even though I've been here 61 years. At least there it's still a family atmosphere with great access to the water instead of paying through the nose for a single launch point.

My family can no longer enjoy the Redondo Marina because of the rate hike. Please bring it back down to the original price. I don't know what to tell my kids since we can no longer afford the new pricing. Thanks John

Please reinstate the 'hand launch' flat rate for the Harbor Marina Parking Lot. The increase imposed on users is prohibitive, especially for kayak fisherman like myself who can spend up to 8 hours or so on the water. Thank you for your consideration.

I have enjoyed fishing out of King Harbor in my kayak many times. Please do not take this away from me by making parking not affordable.

Please don’t deny “safe access” to kayakers and kayak fishermen
