A public aquatic center is more than a recreational amenity. It is essential community infrastructure that would improve public safety, promote health and wellness, support school athletics and competitive swimming, and attract regional events that generate economic activity.

My kids who live in South walton have been traveling to the Taj Renee Swim Center in Destin 4 days a week to swim with other South walton residents. It's not a fancy swim center, but it works. You don't have to build the best aquatic center in the USA, but let's get it started. Guess where Seacoast Collegiate High School hosted the District swim meet yesterday. We hosted our home event in Panama City Beach at Frank Brown Park. We need to build a reasonable Aquatic center in sowal.

When we vacationed here over 10 years ago we were surprised and disappointed there wasn't a lap pool for our competitive swimmer son to practice in while he was away from his swim team. We then moved here a couple years later and have had to drive to both Frank Brown Park to attend practices for the swim team there and also to Destin for practices... we need a local aquatic center!!!

I grew up a competitive swimmer in Nashville in the late 1980’s and early 90’s. I have lived in South Walton since -1997. I am shocked that in these 30 years that I lived here that we have never had a place to swim laps - exercise through swimming, water aerobics , youth swim classes etc .
Walton county has been so disappointing to me as far as locals go.
Our locals deserve a county lap swimming pool . Our kids deserve to have access to competitive swimming.

As I’m nearing retirement, it would be great to have an indoor community pool for water aerobics and lap swimming.

So excited that this may be in our future. We need a a clean safe and accessible place to get some water exercise. The beach has become too difficult to enjoy due to parking

An Olympic-sized aquatic facility in South Walton would replicate St. Petersburg's winning formula: a self-sustaining municipal anchor funded by bed taxes that drives shoulder-season sports tourism and winter team training, while simultaneously securing a deep-water pipeline for ocean rescue lifeguard certification and expanding everyday community lap swimming and drowning-prevention programs.
