The city finally reversed course and approved the lighting installation for the park pathway. They spent months ignoring our safety concerns but our persistence forced them to act. The work starts soon and I will be out there to make sure they actually get it done.

Final supporters
Please install lights at Temescal Creek Park. The pathway through the park is a well-used pedestrian and bicycle thoroughfare, but becomes dangerously dark after sunset. In the winter months, the sun sets as early as 5:30 p.m., when commuters are heading home and people are walking their dogs or otherwise enjoying the outdoors. A well-lit park will be safer and more comfortable for park users.
A few well-placed, energy efficient LED lamps would be sufficient to light the park pathway. The lamps could be set on a timer so that the lights are on when the sun sets and off when the park closes at 9 p.m. to minimize disruption to park neighbors.

The city officials ignore us at their own peril now that this movement has gained real teeth. We have forced them to pay attention to the dangerous conditions at Temescal Creek Park, so prepare to keep the pressure on them until they install those lights.

We should install lights at Temescal Creek Park. With the sun setting earlier in the winter, the park is basically unusable for many community members who want to take kids or walk dogs there after work. A few lamps on timers would be an efficient, practical solution that would help maximize use of the space.
Please help build a safe and strong community space for us here in the Triangle. Those of us that use this park regularly cannot use it but 1/2 of the year due to the time change. It's a pitch black vortex at night. And we miss our evening gatherings. This not just safety, it's community. Thanks.
This park was closed for a long time to make improvements, and it was great to see how many people used it since reopening. Adding lights would be the final step (somehow missed in the original plan) to make full use of this little neighborhood oasis.
I pet sit and walking through the park during open hours, but after dark, is scary and just seems to be asking for trouble. Fortunately, the dogs are big. Nevertheless, what is the point in having the park be open, if it is unsafe?
By the time I get off of work, I'm forced to choose between skipping my dog's usual exercise and braving the park at dark. I'd feel a lot better with lights in the park, and it would cost so little.

Lights, pretty basic with crime fighting, safety and general wellbeing. Why create a lovely park if it's super creepy in the winter's early darkness.
