Five hundred people have now called out the council for leaving Wallness Lane in total darkness. The city leaders can no longer pretend this safety hazard does not exist while we continue to be terrorized in our own neighborhood.

The council thinks they can ignore our safety while students remain in the dark but this momentum proves they cannot stay silent for long. We have hit a turning point that makes it impossible for them to pretend Wallness Lane is acceptable in its current state.

The cowards at the council are ignoring our safety while we walk through pitch black streets. We are almost at one hundred signatures so push this link to everyone you know right now and force them to pay attention.

As an past Salford student, I am aware of a number of sexual assults that have also occured in the area. A few years ago it the path through the park next to Wallness Lane was unfortunately dubbed "Rape Park" by many of my fellow students.
This is a fantastic idea, I'm in my third year of uni and I still hate walking down there, but I haven't got a choice, when walking on my own i either call my parents or boyfriend I hate it that much.
I hated walking down this road at night and would go as far as ordering a taxi even though I was only in tramways so I didnt have to walk down it on my own!
Even throughout Peel Park! Whoever is doing the building work on Peel Park, they've taken down all the lights that light up the walkways, making it a very unsafe place to go through. You would have thought this would be very important since it's dark nights, and it's right next to Salford University's main campus!
Would love this to happen, always feel wary walking around the campus at night and I often need to travel to the library. A couple of people have been mugged and I believe a stabbing has occured. Please sort this.
Agree the lighting needs improving, it's very dark and can be intimidating
As a parent who’s daughter is considering Salford University as an option next year this is a real concern. The safety of the area around the university is a huge factor in whether she chooses Salford or not.

This looks extremely dangerous. My daughter will be going here and my peace of mind is shattered already, Please do the right thing and put extra lighting here and cameras with 24 hour surveillance. Thank you
