The music to "Dixie" has been an Arab tradition played during the pre-game show & whenever touchdowns are scored by our Knights, for as long as I can remember. The actual lyrics to the song have absolutely nothing to do with the music played by the band. Please Keep "Dixie"!
I will not be attending another Arab ball game if "Dixie" is eliminated as the fight song. It was played long before I joined the band and proudly played it on the field; it has been played ever since. This is a TRADITION, and I will be one of the OFFENDED if it is taken away!
This song is a part of our heritage and history. People try to link this song to racism because the confederate used it during the war, but the song itself was written in New York by a black man who was born in Ohio. Learn your history and stop being so thin skinned.
This song brings the feeling of victory, success, and school pride when played at the games. No one thinks about the Confederacy or racism when hearing Dixie. The song isn't outdated, the victimization mentality is.
Keep Dixie in Dixie ! I am highly offended that it has been removed! I am the great great granddaughter of a civil war confederate solider; stop erasing our heritage! I am a graduate of Arab High School class of 1994. I will no longer support a school that slaps my heritage in the face! SHAME on you!

It’s not ok to change things that are school traditions Without The students , parents , alumni , having a say. Just. Because you think you are that special . That should be a community decision not one person .
