We would like to petition for Coach Feng to return to Nanyang Girls’ High to coach the Volleyball team. We believe she has made a significant contribution in instilling values and developing character among the team members, on top of honing our volleyball skills in the most efficient manner, and respecting each and everyone of us as part of the team.

Updates

October 22, 2018

The school administration remains completely silent despite our efforts to get Coach Feng back on the court. They think if they ignore us long enough we will just walk away but they are dead wrong.

October 22, 2018

The school board is finally feeling the heat because this momentum is impossible to ignore. They kicked Coach Feng to the curb but they clearly underestimated how many of us demand her return.

She is an extremely dedicated coach and always puts the welfare of her students first. It might be worth a ponder as to why other schools always have injured players but Nanyang does not. That is how well she takes care of her students. She is not only very effective and efficient in her teaching of skills, she also places heavy emphasis on diligence and sportsmanship. Over the years, she has become somewhat like my family. She has been a constant in my life and is always there to support me.

i am from NYPVB 2006-2009. Jiaolian is like a mother to us. Though strict in her ways, we understood that this is for our own good. Under her care, we have not only grown to be good players but women with good character.

under her nurturing i can say most of the vb team has grown immensely. Though there was a slight misunderstanding in the past, she has really improved and she has changed her teaching style to suit us. her 15 years of work in the school, together with the skill she brings into the cca should not go to waste.

jl has been extremely kind to us. This year during our zonal finals, I was suppose to go on court to serve and unfortunately it didn't go over. Of course I was extremely saddened but jl didn't even scold me. After the match she even comforted me and said that it's ok she knows that everyone wants to win and it's ok to fail. She has also given a lot of professional help. She has aided us greatly for us to reach out standard now. I feel that it is unfair to suddenly ask her to leave the school after 15 years service in the school. I may not know the full picture of what is happening but I can say that from what my seniors say jl has been putting in a lot of effort to mellow down to suit the schools policies. She has done a lot for us and really cares for our well being. You may say she pushes us to get first. But that isn't true. Everyone has their desire to win. If a team goes on court with none of that desire would you not be disappointed it's like not wanting to do well in academics. I really hope that you will allow jl to stay as our coach.

it was coach Feng that sparked the love and passion I had for this sport from the beginning, when I first started playing Volleyball. Growing from the position of a student who saw Volleyball as merely a CCA into one that has fallen in love with the game altogether, it was her guidance and counselling that moulded me into the athlete and person I am today. Her familiarity with the game and ability to impart these skills to her players are indisputable, as can be seen from how each of her players have improved under her teaching. She is well known for her calmness on the court and strategic methods of play. These qualities are invaluable to our team, allowing us to improve tremendously over the years. The hard work she has put into grooming the team is rewarded with many proud victories. However throughout my years as her student, she has never stressed on claiming the top positions but rather the journeys we took to get there. To her, medals are not worth as much as the process of trying and learning. She always tells us that ‘trying and failing is okay, but failing to try is unacceptable’. When we lose a match despite giving it our all, she never denies our hard work and would commend us for doing our best. When we win a match but failed to put in effort to communicate or not treat the game seriously, she would discipline us and make sure that we understood how important it was to always give our 100%. I understood the pivotal meaning of ‘winning isn’t everything’ - something that always spurs me to focus on the road to the goal rather than solely on the goal itself. Under her coaching, we have learnt lessons such as to not look down on yourself nor others but to always stay humble. There are other values that she has inculcated in all of us; values that any good athlete should uphold. Not only that, she often emphasises that we should grow in the likeness of a Nanyang Girl, to hold high our dignity and to embody the school’s motto of ‘勤、慎、端、朴’. Evidently, as a

jl is very caring and always puts our welfare first. she takes care of each and every one of the her students, guiding and helping them to unleash their fullest potential. her love and dedication not only helped us become better players, but also helped us to improve as a person. our bond with jl is irreplaceable, and i sincerely hope that jl can remain as coach.

Jl have been a very good coach who is always patient and caring. Despite the hard times, she will always encourage us and sometimes joke around to lift our mood. I don't think the change of coach will help us actually as jl is very close to us and there is a true bind. As she once said, we are one team including her and the teachers in charge

JL always says that we come and leave training happy, and it is fine if we do not improve a lot. As long as we put in effort, she would recognise it. Even as a secondary 1, I feel that JL has allowed us to reach our potential. Though she may be strict and straight forward, these traits help us better train ourselves as we are able to immediately know of our weaknesses. JL has been with the volleyball team for very long so I feel that a change in coach is not necessary unless the situation further escalates.
